Osaka Castle (大阪城) is the only side trip that I manage to visit when I was in Kyoto. This is one of the sites that I think online media, photography or video of the castle don’t really do justice to its beauty. It’s totally a different appreciation when visiting the castle in person. I spent some good time there learning about the history of the castle, and the museum itself is quite informative.
